Velayati, Nasrallah confer on bilateral issues

BEIRUT, May 19 (MNA) – Head of Expediency Council's Strategic Research Center has met with Hezbollah Leader in Beirut.

Visiting Iranian Leader's Advisor for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati held a meeting with Secretary General of Lebanon's Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah to confer on the latest developments in the region as well as important international and bilateral issues. The meeting, which was focused on the issues related to the World of Islam, Lebanon and extremism, was held on Monday evening in Beirut.

Calling for further unity and cooperation between the Muslim nations to fight extremism and Takfiri groups, Velayati said certain states inside and outside the region are supporting Takfiri groups and extremists in order to divide the Islamic countries.

He stressed that the enemies would never be able to make their sinister dreams about the region come true.

Ali Akbar Velayati arrived in the Lebanese capital on Monday morning. Since his arrival, he has held separate meetings with the Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and leader of Lebanese Free Patriotic Movement General Michel Aoun.
